Ucayali Party
We went to the Ucalali party at UUFN. "Because You're Mine, I'll Walk the Line" is the latest song we sang along to the band The Ukesters. Some others included "Leaving on a Jet Plane," Country Road, and two songs by Johnny Cash.
Country road, WV mountain momma..I hear her voice in the morning. I am hoarse now, singing too loudly and an octave higher than my voice tolerated.
On YouTube, most of the talk is about Trump and his tariffs. Videos from China were the most depressing. They overproduce everything and do not allow destructive creation. Full employment, not profitability, drives their business. But the people there are losing jobs and hurting.
Prominent leaders plan and play power games with people's lives and futures. They do what makes them feel good, not what this country needs. Our debt is sinking our boat, and yet our leaders promise tax cuts while they increase spending. Now one wants to face the truth and do what we need to do ... suck it up, work hard, increase taxes and decrease spending. Our military needs to do a national defense, not a worldwide policeman. Bonds are falling, gold is rising, the dollar is falling, and we are playing trade wars. The world is losing faith in us, and Trump is burning through all the trust we have left.
Wealth inequality is the cause and the symptom of what is wrong with our country. We are probably going into a recession, and our money is getting soft. We are on the brink of a massive crash and are not discussing it. We make our money in financing and math games with money. It is a matter of balance. We don't do enough of the basics, and we don't pay our middle class enough to exist. It is all our power, not enough about doing what is right and fair.
Well, so for the rant. This was supposed to be about a party, not the mess in this country. Trump is about to get credit for the coming collapse. I am not a trump fan, but this is bigger than Trump and is the result of decades of lousy money policy, spending too much, thinking short-term, and not taking care of our people. But that is another post, not today.
Have a good weekend, turn off the news. You can catch up on all the crap on Monday. We are going to be in this shit for the long haul.
Namaste, the Ancient Texan
